Welcome to Western Washington’s Cox Conserves Heroes Program

KIRO 7 is proud to partner with The Trust for Public Land to bring you Western Washington's 4th Annual Cox Conserves Heroes program.

Congratulations to Laura James for being selected as Western Washington's 2012 Cox Conserves Hero. Her nonprofit of choice, Sustainable West Seattle, will receive $10,000.

Each finalist received $2,500 to donate to their environmental nonprofits of choice: About the Program:

Cox Conserves Heroes recognizes local environmental volunteers and makes donations to local nonprofits on their behalf.

The national program takes place in cities across the county. The public nominates volunteers using a brief online form. Next, a panel of local environmental leaders selects three finalists who are profiled on video. The public then watches the videos, gets inspired, and votes for their favorite.

It's our way of honoring the unsung heroes in our communities and supporting the organizations that matter to them.
