Welcome to Western Washington’s Cox Conserves Heroes Program

KIRO 7 is proud to partner with The Trust for Public Land to bring you Western Washington's Cox Conserves Heroes program.

Congrats to Helen Hoenig for being named Western Washington's 2016 Cox Conserves Hero. Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust will receive $10,000 on her behalf.

The 2016 finalists will each receive $5,000 for their nonprofits of choice:

  • Bill Hagen: Carkeek Watershed Community Action Project
  • Kortney Okura: Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust

Created in partnership with The Trust for Public Land, Cox Conserves Heroes recognizes local environmental volunteers and makes donations to local nonprofits on their behalf.

The program takes place in cities across the country. The public nominates volunteers using a brief online form. Next, a panel of local environmental leaders selects three finalists who are profiled on video. The public then watches the videos, gets inspired, and votes for their favorite.

It's our way of honoring the unsung heroes in our communities and supporting the organizations that matter to them.
